The mission of Georgia in Moscow has stopped to render consular services

The consular service of section of interests of Georgia at Embassy of Switzerland in Russia has stopped to render consular services to citizens. This was stated on Saturday by the Georgian foreign Ministry which calls unfounded demands for payment for rent and communal services in Moscow building section.
The interests section of Georgia was opened on March 5, 2009 in Embassy of Switzerland in connection with the severance of diplomatic relations between Moscow and Tbilisi. On Friday, the consular services section stopped issuance of visas and on the door hung a statement that its activities are temporarily suspended due to the Russian side created barriers. According to the staff the reason for closing the office was a power outage. The diplomats recommended to address for explanations to the Russian authorities.
However, as reported by the CEO of JSC Rusinvestproekt which through OOO Business center Ostozhenka belong to the space section, the outage occurred due to non-payment by the Georgian side utilities and rent. According to Oleg Anikiev section had made no payments since 2008, owing more than a million rubles. The businessman said he recently notified the section about the impending shutdown but received no response. Anikiev said that contacted a senior Advisor section akhalbedashvili Zurab, who noted that he understands the situation.
In turn, the Georgian foreign Ministry claims that the owner of the building on Ostozhenka is absolutely groundless demands to pay for rent and utilities. Such actions as stated by the Agency, the Russian side violates the Venetian Convention on diplomatic relations of 1961 and the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Swiss Confederation on the implementation of the Swiss Confederation, representation of interests of Georgia in the Russian Federation, concluded by exchange of notes March 4, 2009.
